Program Schedule:
Summer program (6 weeks, Jul-Aug):
Orientation & Education, 2 weeks; Community Service, 4 weeks
Extended program (8.5 weeks, Mar-May & Oct-Dec):
Orientation & Education, 3 weeks; Community Service, 5.5 weeks

Extensions/modifications:
Programs can be modified to meet your specific needs - just ask!

Application due date:
Rolling admission until program is full
(Late fee applies for applications received less than 60 days prior to program start date)

Inclusions

Accommodations

  • One night at a guest house upon arrival in Gangtok, Sikkim (India)
  • With a host family in Gangtok during the Orientation & Education Phase
  • With host families during the Village Home Stays
  • With host families and in guest houses during the Educational Excursion in West Sikkim
  • With a local family during the Community Service Phase

Meals

  • Group welcome dinner on first night in Gangtok
  • Two meals per day at the home stay in Gangtok during the Orientation & Education Phase
  • All meals during the Village Home Stays
  • All meals during the Educational Excursion in West Sikkim
  • Special dinner celebration at the end of the Orientation and Education Phase
  • Two meals per day at the home stay during Community Service Phase

Transportation

  • From Bagdogra to Gangtok upon arrival and Gangtok to Bagdogra upon departure
  • During all Exploration of Cultural and Historical Sites around Gangtok and its environs
  • To/from the Village Home Stays
  • During the Educational Excursion in West Sikkim

Educational Staff

  • Nepali language instructor
  • Educators and speakers for Cultural Seminars and Current Events Discussions
  • English-speaking cultural interpreter/guide for Exploration of Cultural and Historical Sites, the Village Home Stays, Educational Excursion in West Sikkim

Educational Excursion in West Sikkim

  • English-speaking guide/cultural interpreter
  • All applicable permits

Miscellaneous

  • Entrance fees to all sites during Exploration of Cultural and Historical Sites
  • Complimentary ICA duffel bag

Exclusions

  • Passport and visa extension fees
  • International airfare, round trip, USA to Bagdogra, India
  • International and domestic airport departure taxes in India
  • Personal expenses such as laundry, some meal, gifts, personal expeditions, phone calls, gratuities, etc…
  • Travel insurance (minimum required by ICA: medical expenses and emergency transportation/evacuation)
