Service and Learning in the Sacred Valley of the Incas
Overview:
This is an ideal program for any teacher who wants to bring their students as close to the culture
and people of the Peruvian Andes as possible. The program takes place primarily in the Department
of Cusco in southern Peru – from the city of Cusco, heart of the Incan Empire, through the Sacred Valley
of the Incas, to the mystical “Lost City” of Machu Picchu. Although the activities contained in this Cultural
Immersion Program can vary depending on your interest and goals, we have outlined, below, some of the
highlights which make this a truly Incredible Incan Immersion experience.

Stay with local families in Cusco, the center of the Incan civilization

Meet the students and teachers at a local urban school

Study the history of the region by exploring cultural and historical sites
- Experience the commerce of the Andes by visiting a variety of modern and traditional markets
- Participate in a village visit and stay with local families in the Sacred Valley of the Incas
